Texture and my paralyzing fears

I'm scared - scared of texture.  With a medium that if you mess up, you mush your clay up and start over, why would I have such a paralyzing fear of texture?  I haven't the slightest idea.

I appreciate texture in other people's work.  It's usually one of the principle reasons I like a piece.  I NEED SOME TEXTURE!!!

And so this is my new focus.  I'm going to start using textures on everything.  No more fear.  I'm going to pour on the texture till someone pulls on the reins and says, "You know, you really might want to sand this."

  1. You'll be all set for the March PCAGOE challange theme! I don't do much with texture either so I'm not sure what I am going to enter, but I've told myself am going to use the challenges to move outside of my comfort zone.

  2. I can't seem to do anything that DOESN'T have texture, and then I just want to slap paint on that texture...we are all so different, smoothing and sanding are frustrating to me!
